CENTER OF EXCELLENCE - Male and Female Infertility Management

Our Primus Reproductive medicine and IVF team have been at the forefront of the reproductive medicine arena since its inception and our physicians have been breaking new ground from a medical standpoint as well as on patient support perspective. New developments in reproductive medicine continue to drive our outstanding success rates.

Department of Reproductive Medicine & IVF centre at Primus Super Speciality Hospital has latest equipment and technologies like IMSI, CASA, Polscope technologies and PGD. Embryoscope, a latest advancement in the embryology is being introduced for the first time in northern India. This will help in the selection of best embryo for implantation thus raising the pregnancy rate to newer heights and also avoid early pregnancy loss.

Budget IVF and soft protocols will make it possible for even couples of poor sections of the society to fulfill their desires of parenthood.

At primus we follow a step by step process to lead you to parenthood
Step 1: Complete Evaluation of both partners: Male and female

Though many people assume that infertility is largely a female problem, the truth is that approximately half of infertility cases involve the infertility male factors to some extent. The good news is that male infertility can be treated effectively in the overwhelming majority of cases. The treatment of male factor infertility is one of the true success stories in the field of reproductive medicine.

Step 2: Hormone therapy : Male and Female

Primus IRMI provides effective treatment programs for hormonal infertility.

There are a variety of hormonal abnormalities that can lead to infertility. A few to name are hypothyroidism (low thyroid function), hyperprolactinemia (high male hormone levels) and luteal phase defect (low progesterone levels). Our Team of reproductive medicine doctors are experts in treating these and other endocrinological abnormalities. The IRMIC experts work closely with couples undergoing the many different types of assisted fertility treatments available. We are well-known for our specialized knowledge and high infertility success rates even in difficult cases. IRMIC expertise in hormonal infertility lays in our enthusiasm and capability to individualize our approach to best suit each and every one of our patients

Step 3: Intrauterine insemination IUI

The next step to take you towards parenthood is intrauterine insemination which is a form of assisted conception. This procedure is often combined with fertility drugs to increase your chances of conceiving.

IUI is one of several infertility treatments that uses a small catheter to insert “washed” sperm directly into the uterus. The goal of IUI is to increase the number of good sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of fertilization. IUI is usually selected as a treatment for conditions including:

  • Unexplained infertility
  • Low sperm count
  • Decreased sperm motility
  • Donor sperm
  • Hostile cervical condition such as cervical mucus that is too thick or cervical scar tissue from past procedures
  • Ejaculation dysfunction and timing issues.

Step 4: IVF-ET

IVF is far and away the most widespread of the high-tech fertility treatments, accounting for more than 99 percent of all assisted reproductive technology procedures. IVF is the most commonly used procedure included under the general category known as A.R.T. (Assisted Reproductive Technology). In an IVF treatment, eggs are obtained from the female after her ovaries have been stimulated with infertility drugs. While under a short period of sedation and with the use of ultrasound guidance, a needle is inserted into the ovaries and the eggs are aspirated. These eggs are then fertilized in the laboratory (in-vitro) with the partner’s sperm and the developing embryos

Step 5: Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection ICSI

ICSI is used as part of an in vitro fertilization treatment to help you and your spouse to conceive a child. ICSI is the most successful form of treatment for men who are infertile and is used in nearly half of all IVF treatments.

ICSI only requires one sperm, which is injected directly into the egg. The fertilized egg embryo is then transferred to your womb.

Step 6 :Intra Cytoplasm Morphologically selected Sperm Injection (IMSI)

IMSI is an advance form of ICSI. In this the sperm is magnified more than 6,000 times, thereby allowing doctors to pick healthier sperms. It increases the success rate in patients with poor prognosis and ones with previous IVF and ICSI failure.

It is observed that IMSCI has better quality embryos and therefore higher pregnancy rate.

Step 7: Physiological Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection: (PICSI)

PICSI technique improves pregnancy rates and reduces the number of IVF miscarriages.

At Primus IRMIC , we select only the best for your child. An individual sperm of best quality is selected and injected into an oocyte. Until now, the only technique available to embryologists to select the sperm has been visual observation. Using PICSI procedure we at Primus are able to determine sperm selection in much the same way as it happens in human biology.

Step 8: Pre Implantation Genetic Disorder -PGD

We know how important is to have a healthy baby. At primus we take great care in providing you with a healthy bundle of joy. Pre implantation genetic disorder is a procedure done to give couples who carry serious genetic disorder an opportunity to have a healthy child.

Step 9: Laser Hatching

Primus IRMIC uses Laser hatching technique, which is a sophisticated technology, used to facilitate the implantation process. Laser hatching has shown to increase the success rate of pregnancies and achieve the desired results. It is relatively safest and most efficient than other hatching procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Infertility?

Infertility is the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse or the inability to carry a pregnancy to term. This definition is reduced to six months for women over 35, those with a history of painful periods, irregular cycles, pelvic inflammatory disease and miscarriages, and couples who know that the male partner has a low sperm count.

Is infertility primarily a women’s health issue?

Not at all. For almost half of infertile couples, the cause is related to the male partner (either alone or in addition to a female factor). When couples have fertility concerns, we recommend that both the male and female partner have full consultations in order to determine the most effective treatment approach.

What kinds of tests can I expect if I come in for a consultation?

Normally we perform three tests when a couple schedules an initial consultation. For the female partner a blood test can determine whether hormones are in the correct balance and an examination of the pelvic cavity can determine whether there are any physical impediments to fertility. For the male partner, a semen analysis can show whether there are issues with sperm. We will also review each partners medical, surgical and family history and answer any questions you may have.

What treatments are available?

There are a wide range of treatments available for infertility, depending on the cause or causes. These include medications, surgery to correct physical blockages and advanced therapies like in vitro fertilization. Please see the How We Can Help section for detailed information or contact IRIMC for answers to your specific questions.

Is getting IVF treatment very expensive?

No. unlike the general perception, IVF procedure could start from 9000/ Rupees & could go upto a few lakhs. However what is important is a correct diagnosis & customized treatment to suit the patient’s very specific need. At our IVF centre, we go into complete details before recommending & initiating the treatment with complete transparency.

We have a active sex life. However we are still not able to conceive. What could be the reason?

Infertility has nothing to do with an active sex life. There are a lot of couples who face the same situation. The causes for Infertility could be many. A correct diagnosis with a specialist, who is able to give you adequate time & understand your situation to customize your treatment plan, is important. We encounter several such couples in our day to day practice and we encourage them to discuss all issues with bother them
