What is Sleep Apnea ?

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) also called obstructive sleep apnea syndrome — occurs when there are repeated episodes of complete or partial blockage of the upper airway during sleep.

The Most Common Obstructive Sleep Apnea Symptoms Include:
  • Daytime sleepiness or fatigue
  • Dry mouth or sore throat upon awakening
  • Headaches in the morning
  • Trouble concentrating, forgetfulness, depression, or irritability
  • Night sweats
  • Restlessness during sleep
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Snoring
  • Sudden awakenings with a sensation

Frequent, loud snoring may be a sign of sleep apnea, a common and potentially serious disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts as you sleep. Although sleep apnea is treatable, it often goes unrecognized. Learning how to identify the warning signs, how to distinguish it from normal snoring, is the first step to overcoming sleep apnea and getting a good night’s sleep.

What are Adenoids ?
  • Adenoids are lymphoid tissue located in the back of the nose. They are present at birth and then begin to enlarge. They, along with the tonsils, continue to grow until individuals are aged 5-7 years.
  • Then, they generally regress by the age of 12-14 years, but many a times, they do not, and cause nasal congestion, snoring, and breathing through the mouth, by physically blocking the back of the nose.
  • Adenoidectomy is the surgical procedure in which the adenoids are removed. Conventional Blind curette of adenoids is no longer performed, as it leads to bleeding and incomplete removal leading to recurrence.
  • We use plasma technology (coblation) under high definition endoscopic guidance for painless and bloodless removal of adenoids from the roots, ensuring no recurrence and fast recovery.

At Primus, we specialize in the management of tonsils and Adenoid disease advancing nearly bloodless tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy with decreased pain via Coblation & modern medical postoperative management Evaluation as well as both medical & surgical management of: nasal congestion & obstruction, snoring, mouth breathing & obstructive sleep apnea.
